HE Hassan Al-Thawadi visited London in May 2016, during which the Ambassador hosted a reception at the Embassy in his honour.

The reception was attended by a number of key stakeholders and dignitaries. Notable guests included Dr Phillip Lee MP, Former First Minister of Scotland Alex Salmond, and Baroness Morris of Bolton.

The following night, Mr Al-Thawadi delivered a speech at Chatham House to high level stakeholders and media, where he discussed the 2022 World Cup. He outlined what Qatar hopes to achieve as hosts and addressed criticisms the country has faced.
