Qatar National Day 2015

The Embassy of the State of Qatar in London was proud to host the Qatar National Day Celebrations at both the Millennium Gloucester Hotel and The Savoy Hotel in London.
At the first day event, held at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel, Qatari citizens were invited to a daytime reception to celebrate the National Day. More than a hundred guests were present on the day, which saw Qatari national television stations present capturing the very enjoyable and successful event.
H.E Ambassador Yousef Ali Al-Khater welcomed all the Qatari citizens and gave an impressive and meaningful speech on the importance of the National Day.
This was followed by traditional Qatari dancing with swords and various gifts given in celebration to all those in attendance.
 
 
The second day event, held at The Savoy Hotel, was an evening reception. This had over 600 guests in attendance, which included Tobias Ellwood MP, Minister for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Baroness Morris of Bolton and a large number of MPs, Lords and dignitaries.
Tobias Ellwood MP, Minister for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, addressed the guests, affirming the strong relationship between Qatar and the UK.
H.E Ambassador Yousef Ali Al-Khater also addressed the guests and covered a wide range of important topics, ranging from the close relationship the Qatar and UK governments have as global partners, the investments and opportunities Qatar has created in the UK and also the work the Embassy has been doing in reaching out to the wider UK public.
H.E Ambassador Yousef Ali Al-Khater also invited guests to enjoy the various activities offered during the evening, which included, an art exhibition with pieces  from the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, exhibition on the history of pearl diving in Qatar, two hunting falcons to hold and take photos with, a world renowned calligrapher hosting a workshop, a traditional Qatari majlis area with a live Oud player, a competition from Qatar Airways to win flight tickets and gifts from the Qatar National Bank.
The event was a great success and the Embassy looks forward to celebrating the national day in 2016.  ​
