Visa upon arrival

The Ministry of Interior offers a number of immediate entry upon arrival visas that can be obtained at Hamad International Airport without the need to attain a visa in advance.

Nationals of 80 countries are eligible for visa-free entry to Qatar for varying lengths of stay.

Business visa

A Business Visa is issued to businesspersons who are members of the British Arab Chamber of Commerce and known commercial figures, to visit Qatar to improve investment relations between their countries and the State of Qatar. 


  • Businesspersons should provide the missionwith a business letter from the British Arab Chamber of Commerce  
  • Two passport size pictures, one attached to the submission form and the other loose  
  • Original passport valid for at least six months from the date of travel and include a minimum of one blank page  
  • Visa application form must be completed online and then printed and signed before submission

Visa information

  • The visa is valid for three months from the date of issuance


  • The visa holder should enter the country before the end of the validity period


  • The visa holder can only stay in the country for a period of one month from the date of each entry


  • This visa can be extended for a similar period (for a maximum of three months) from the Ministry of Interior in Doha

Transit visa 

You do not require a transit visa if you remain within the transit area at Hamad International Airport.

If you have a long transit time, you can obtain a free transit visa via the Qatar Airways website, for a short transit or stopover between 5 - 96 hours.

Please note that during peak travel periods; processing time for transit visas can take up to 15 days.

Tourist Visa


Please note that all applicants who wish to apply for a tourist visa must be 

  • UK passport holder
  • EU Nationals who are resident in the United Kingdom
  • Other nationals should have a UK work permit or a minimum leave to remain in the United Kingdom of one year

Submitting your application 

You will be required to submit the following articles

  • Two passport size pictures, one attached to the submission form and the other loose
  • Original passport valid for at least six months from the date of travel and include a minimum of one blank page
  • Visa application form to be completed online and then printed and signed

Bank documents

  • Original bank statements with photocopies for the last three months
  • The bank statement must show the name and address of the applicant, and be in-credit of at least £1250.00 at the closing balance
  • Joint, saving and current account bank statements are all accepted
  • Online bank accounts holders should get original printouts from their local branch
  • If you are travelling with a partner or family member, only one of the applicant’s needs to submit a bank statement
  • If you are unable to provide a bank statement, which shows the required funds, you can provide the bank statement of your next of kin; along with a photocopy of their passport and a signed letter of consent confirming they accept full liability on your behalf

All applications must be submitted with a pre-paid registered or recorded self-addressed envelope to enable the Visa Section to return your documents.

The Embassy will not be responsible for any loss of passport by post.

If you are not a UK passport holder, you must provide proof of your residency in the UK.


Fees are paid by postal order or a company cheque only and must be made payable to the Embassy of the State of Qatar.

We do not accept cash or personal cheques at the embassy.

Visa Disclaimer

  • Holders of travel documents and temporary passports can still apply for visas through the Embassy (subject for MOI approval)
  • Please allow at least seven working daysto process a visa; this does not include the postage time. The Embassy does not offer an express service
  • Processing times are general guidelines and may vary depending on each case
  • All visas are subject for approval from the ministry of interior in Doha
  • Fees for rejected or withdrawn visa applications are non-refundable
  • The Consular Section is not obliged to explain refused visa applications
  • We advise that you wait to obtain your visa before planning your journey
  • The Embassy cannot be held liable for any missed flight or hotel bookings due to a visa not processed on time
  • All Maximum stay with one entry is one month. This visa cannot be extended
  • Please note that the Embassy of the State of Qatar will not process applications for those who are staying in the United Kingdom on, tourist, visit or other short-stay visas
